Party notice deadline ends, Sunil Jakhar 'defiant'

A week after the AICC disciplinary committee put Sunil Jakhar on notice for his reported derogatory statement against party leaders, allegedly attributing motives to the leadership thinking on communal lines while deciding the Punjab CLP leader, the former PCC chief is yet to file his reply. The seven-day period for reply to the notice issued by member secretary Tariq Anwar ended today.

Though Jakhar did not respond to calls, sources close to him confirmed he had not sent his reply so far as the action was more to do with “insulting” senior leaders like him. “Having a strong family legacy with the grand old party, Jakhar could have been called to Delhi by the top leadership to iron out the issue,” said a senior leader.

Former Jalalabad MLA and AICC secretary Raminder Singh Awla has already questioned the notice to Jakhar. He has pointed out Jakhar was being targeted to weaken the party and annoy the Hindu community.
