Ranjodh Singh, a 57-year-old farmer from Ratanheri village in Khanna, died on Tuesday.

He has allegedly tried to end his life by consuming sulphas at Shambhu border on Saturday.

He was taking treatment at Governemnt Rajindra hospital in Patiala.

Ranjodh took the extreme step as he was reportedly distressed by the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike in support of farmers’ demands.

Sukhdeep Singh, son of Ranjodh, said his father was present at the protest site and was deeply troubled by the deteriorating condition of Dallewal. Sukhdeep said his father was admitted to ICU.
