'Dilli Chalo' agitation: Peace prevails at Khanauri border

Despite the fact that youngsters are eager to remove the barricades to reach Delhi as part of farmers’ “Dilli Chalo” agitation, calm and peace prevailed at the Khanauri border today.

To prevent youngsters from moving ahead, farmer leaders had put a wire near the barricades two-three days ago. In such conditions, farmers were seen relaxing and playing cards.

Meanwhile, Manjit Singh (67), a farmer from Kangthala village in Patiala district, who was taking part in the farmer agitation at Khanauri border, died of heart attack on Sunday late evening.

Ran Singh Chatha, Sangrur district general secretary of the BKU (Sidhupur), said several youths today moved towards the barricades, but they were sent back by farmer leaders. He said the youths were told that they must follow instructions of the leadership for the success of the “Dilli Chalo” agitation. He said the youths were also told that they should wait for the decision of the farmer leaders till February 21.
