Chandigarh: The Petrol Pump Dealers Association, Punjab, on Thursday urged the state government to reconsider its decision to release 6,000 prisoners in a bid to decongest jails due to the coronavirus scare. Gurmeet Monty Sehgal, spokesperson, said instead of releasing criminals and risk law and order situation, the government should sanitise the jails as they are defined premises. “There is fear among dealers as we are the soft targets. The police should ensure security at petrol pumps otherwise we will be forced to close operations,” he said. tns
