Pickup van driver tries to run over police in Abohar-Sriganganagar road blockade

Police alleged that he also tried to run over the four police personnel present at the barricade. The police team chased him for a long distance and caught him. Sadar police station in-charge Ravinder Bhatti said that strict action will be taken against the pickup van driver.
According to the information, SHO Bhatti along with his team was checking vehicles on the highway near village Sayeed Wala. Meanwhile, the driver of a speeding pickup coming from Rajasthan, instead of stopping the vehicle at the barricade for checking, crashed through the barricade and drove away. When four police personnel signalled him to stop, the pickup driver allegedly tried to run them over with the vehicle and fled. The police chased him in a vehicle and caught him after going a long distance.
The driver of the pickup van has been identified as Prashant Singh, a resident of Barnala. His minor son was also present with him; they were carrying mustard oil from Rajasthan. The pickup driver admitted his mistake and said that he had to supply oil to a party urgently, so he did not stop for checking. Police said that strict legal action will be taken against the pickup van driver.
