The police have arrested Malvinder Singh Mali, former adviser to Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, for allegedly posting defamatory content against the Punjab Government and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on social media.

Mali was arrested from his house in Patiala.

A case under the IT Act has been registered against him.

Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi posted on X informing of his arrest. In a statement issued here today, Gandhi condemned the arrest of the social activist and political analyst of Punjab, Mali, on “flimsy” grounds. The Patiala MP warned the state government against taking such "undemocratic and coercive steps and instead focus on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state”.
