In the Behbal Kalan police firing case, the public prosecutor on behalf of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) today argued for the framing of charges against the accused.

On the other hand, HS Saini, counsel for former Moga SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma, urged the court to defer the proceedings till February 2020 in view of the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s order of granting exemption from personal appearance to former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini. As all accused must be charged and tried jointly, so the framing of charges was legally not tenable in absence of Saini, he argued. — TNS
