Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday claimed that Power Minister Sanjeev Arora was forcing Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to “sell prime land, manipulate tenders and post tainted officials on key positions”.

Addressing a public meeting in support of SAD candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa in Tarn Taran, Badal alleged that PSPCL CMD AK Sinha had been transferred after he refused to implement “illegal orders” related to 2,000 MW power purchase agreement.

“All this is being done to collect money for the AAP high command,” claimed Badal.

He accused the AAP government of misusing the police to register false cases against Akali leaders and workers ahead of the Tarn Taran bypoll. “The Election Commission had acted on SAD’s complaint and transferred DSPs Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Jagjit Singh, along with SHO Gurdeep Singh, for allegedly acting as aides of AAP candidate Harmeet Sandhu,” said Badal.
