A CBI court in Chandigarh on Tuesday allowed the prayer of the central probe agency's prayer to preserve the records and CCTV footage of those who visited Kirshanu Sharda, co-accused in the suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar bribery case, in the Burail jail.

Kirshanu Sharda was arrested for allegedly taking bribe for Bhullar.

The CBI filed the application before the Chandigarh CBI court under Section 187 of BNSS 2023, seeking police custody of accused Sharda for 12 days. Sharda was produced before the court today through video conferencing from Model Jail, Burail, Chandigarh, but the hearing on this application was postponed for a day after no lawyer appeared on behalf of the middleman.

The court says that none represented Sharda before the court today. As such, he be physically produced before the court on October 29.

He has been told through video-conferencing to get his counsel engaged in the meanwhile. If he fails to engage some counsel, legal aid counsel’s assistance would be provided to him to deal with the application in hand.
