An indefinite protest has begun outside the District Administrative Complex (DAC) here over the death of Sukhdev Singh of Wangal village. He was the grandson of freedom fighter Sucha Singh.

Sukhdev and his son were allegedly attacked by some residents of Lubanianwali village while harvesting paddy crop. His body has been lying at the local Civil Hospital for the past nine days as the family has been demanding the arrest of accused.

Some politicians, including former Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and former MP Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, joined the protesters on Monday and condemned the incident. They also accused the police of misbehaving with them.
