Rajya Sabha member from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahney this week demanded that the report of the committee set up by the Centre to examine the MSP issue in the wake of farmers’ agitation be made public within a month or two.

Speaking on general discussion on the Union Budget in the Rajya Sabha, Sahney demanded a significant share for Punjab out of the Rs 1.5 lakh crore long-term interest-free loans to states.

“The MSP committee report should be published in the next 30-60 days. Farmer producer organisations should be promoted and formation rules made more flexible to empower farmers,” he said listing skilling for jobs, absorption of 50 per cent Agniveers in paramilitary forces, mega industrial park in Jalandhar or Ludhiana, upgradation of SCL park in Mohali, among key priorities.
