The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday restricted its functioning to urgent cases till March-end in view of the coronavirus threat.

A vacation roster-sort of system will be be put in place where anticipatory bail pleas, protection matters and habeas corpus pleas would be entertained.

Any other matter considered urgent would be mentioned before the bench concerned and heard after permission.

Earlier, the executive committee of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association unanimously decided that work would remain suspended with immediate effect till further orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
