Punjab on Saturday appointed B Chandrashekhar as the new Director, Bureau of Investigation, besides transferring six SSPs.

The Director, Bureau of Investigation, post was lying vacant since previous head SK Asthana went on leave in early December.

AK Pandey, who had issued the controversial order asking police to play the Gurbani on loudspeakers to drown the sloganeering against Chief Minister at his functions, has been promoted and posted as ADGP, Special Protection Unit.
