Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tody said adequate arrangements were in place for smooth paddy transplantation beginning tomorrow.

He reiterated commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply to farmers during the paddy season from June 14 and 17. To ensure smooth irrigation in a staggered manner, the first phase in areas beyond the fencing across the International Border had already started from June 10. Uninterrupted power from June 14 would be ensured in the second phase to 10 districts i.e. Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, SBS Nagar, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ropar and SAS Nagar.

The remaining districts of Bathinda, Barnala, Faridkot, Muktsar, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Malerkotla, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Mansa, Moga and Fazilka will be provided regular supply starting June 17. Mann said the government had decided to allow paddy transplantation in a phased manner in a

bid to conserve groundwater.
