SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had compromised state’s development and endangered its future generations by wilfully neglecting the acquisition of land for the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway. He said the government did not ensure the safety of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) staff due to which three NHAI projects (104 km total length) costing Rs 3,263 crore had been terminated even as eight other projects for 293 km and costing Rs 14,288 crore were at the risk of cancellation.

In a statement here, Badal expressed shock and alarm at the manner in which the CM had allowed governance and law and order situation to deteriorate to such an extent that Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was compelled to ask him to intervene to retrieve the project. — TNS
