The disciplinary action has been taken against Dr Ajay Rana, Dr Umesh Malhotra, Dr Chandandeep Singh Sandhu and Dr Harprit Singh under the provisions of the Punjab Medical Registration Act, 1916 and the Code of Medical Ethics Regulation, 2002.
Making fraudulent claims about their higher qualifications and specialisations, practicing without registration and incorrect contents of medico-legal certificates are among acts that these doctors have been blamed for, according to the council.
During the period of suspension, the doctors concerned are prohibited from engaging in any form of medical or proxy practice within the state of Punjab.
They have also been stopped from using their names with any medical designation, issue prescriptions or use any letterhead stamp of pad bearing their names or medical credentials.
