New Delhi, March 4

Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Wednesday launched “Savera Charitable Trust” at the national level to work for the need and to contribute to India’s growth and development.

“Savera” signifying “a new dawn” was floated in 2004. It is a non-profit organisation and Rana Sodhi is its founder.

The need for the organisation going national was its commitment to expand its footprints and to extend its social work.

In its new avatar, it has added four verticals for rendering services: wellness; woman and child; young India and environment sustainability.

While the former Governor of Mizoram and Manipur VK Duggal is the Trust’s Patron, Raghumit Sodhi, Anumit Sodhi and Tina Sodhi are its Managing Trustees.

“Savera Trust’s initiatives, including assisting rural artisans in Punjab, have made a palpable impact in the communities we serve,” Raghumit Sodhi said at the time of the launch. The organisation has decided to go national to serve on a larger scale, he added.
