The ministers also announced the launch of a Vande Bharat Express between Ferozepur and New Delhi. The train will operate six days a week, except on Wednesdays.

For the Mohali-Rajpura rail link, the Railways require 54 hectares of land, which the Punjab Government will acquire and hand over to the Centre.

Vaishnaw stated that other projects in Punjab, including the redeveloped Chandigarh railway station, are expected to be operational by 2026-27.

According to official sources, the Mohali–Rajpura rail link will enhance regional connectivity by linking Chandigarh with the Malwa region, including Rajpura, Patiala, and Sangrur.

The new Vande Bharat train from Ferozepur to New Delhi will further improve connectivity across the region. The route will pass through Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, and Ambala, connecting a large part of Malwa to the national capital.
