Suspecting the murder to be linked to ransom demands, the police have begun an investigation. It is learnt that Darshan Singh had moved to Canada many years ago and established a successful cloth recycling business, employing dozens of workers at his Maple Ridge factory.

Sources described Darshan Singh as a Good Samaritan who often donated to the needy. As per available information, he had been receiving ransom calls in the past, which he reportedly ignored. He was frequently seen as a prominent figure at community events.

Meanwhile, Doraha SHO Akash Datt said, “We have received information about Darshan Sahsi’s unfortunate demise. His relatives are currently at Rajgarh village, Doraha. We are awaiting clarity on whether they plan to bring the body back to their native place. We will take action and proceed with an investigation as per their instructions and government guidance.”

Darshan Sahsi’s brother Joshi and his nephew are planning to travel to Canada to pay their last respects and attend his funeral. Rajgarh village sarpanch Jagtar Singh, along with the entire community, expressed deep sorrow over Sahsi’s demise. Villagers remembered him as a kind-hearted man who visited the village every year and was known for his generosity, and never forgot his roots. He would regularly pay school fees for underprivileged children and help the needy, the sarpanch said.
