Chandigarh, September 13

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday dedicated Rs 125-crore projects, including the statewide radio diagnostic and laboratory services, and the revamped 108 ambulance emergency response system, to the people of Punjab.

Launching the projects from Batala and Mohali virtually, on the 534th marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the Chief Minister also dedicated an e-clinic facility pilot at Batala to address the shortage of specialist medical counselling and treatment in rural areas.

The specialised medical services to be rolled out across the state by November-end would help the poor, for whom expert care was out of their reach, said Captain Amarinder Singh.

The Chief Minister said 5 per cent of the total cases would be provided free diagnostic facilities to help the needy. The projects entail an employment generation potential for 750 people, who would be trained as technicians.

The Chief Minister also announced renovation of 13 rural dispensaries in Batala area from the Border Area Development Funds.

The number of ambulances has already been increased to 325, and it would be further raised to 400 in the coming days, the Chief Minister said.
