Sarpanch Nirmal Singh of Jandwala Charhat Singh said three houses had collapsed in the village. “Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur visited the affected families and assured them of early assistance,” he said. In several villages, rainwater has damaged moong and maize crops and inundated paddy and cotton fields.

Meanwhile, the government primary school at Kaoni village is inundated with rainwater, forcing all classes to be held together in a wrestling hall. Government Senior Secondary Smart School in the same village has also suffered flooding, with water entering some classrooms. This has led to a drop in students’ attendance.

At Mallan village, the approach road to the government primary school remains submerged, making it difficult for students and staff to reach the premises. DEO Jaspal Monga, said, “The watering work is underway. The situation arose because the village pond overflowed at Kaoni village.”
