Heavy rain on Saturday brought relief to the city residents from scorching heat and humid weather conditions.

Farmers who are sowing paddy are also upbeat. Agricultural experts said rain in the ongoing paddy season would be beneficial for the growth of the plant although cotton, which was sown a bit late, would be affected mildly.

As per Met Department, Bathinda city recorded 33.0 mm, Rampura 19.0 mm, Talwandi Sabo 12.6 mm and Maur recorded 83.0 mm rain on Saturday. Meanwhile, many roads in the city were waterlogged, exposing lack of preparedness on the part of the Municipal Corporation.
