The district administration has started providing a safety kit at a cost of Rs 1,500 for all COVID-19 patients who are in home isolation.

Red Cross Bathinda is providing a Covid safety kit for all such patients which includes pulse oximeter, thermometer, sanitizer, basic tablets of zinc, vitamins and medicine for fever.

List of do’s and don’ts is also provided in the kit which costs Rs 1,500 to the patient.

There are 683 active corona cases in the district out of which 342 are in home isolation.

More than 85 per cent cases are asymptomatic which can be home isolated as per guidelines if they have separate room with toilet at home and a caretaker to help them.

Even a large number of health employees are also testing positive for COVID-19 as two health employees deployed at OPD lab tested positive on Tuesday.

Earlier, a senior MLT deployed at blood bank at civil hospital and a woman sanitation worker tested positive.

Even two officials deployed at IDSP branch in civil surgeon’s office were tested positive and one staff nurse posted at women and children hospital at civil hospital has also been tested positive.

Deputy Commissioner Bathinda B Srinivasan advised the people having symptoms of corona like cough, fever and fatigue to step out for corona test as they can save their family from infection and they will be performing a duty of a responsible citizen by doing so.

Psychiatrists and dieticians are in touch with all positive patients through video calls and whatsapp groups. Arrangements are made for yoga classes of patients, he added.

In case of any emergency, patient can contact control room and he will be immediately shifted to hospital if situation arises.

The Deputy Commissioner added there is no need to panic as round the clock arrangements are made by the district administration for positive patients in home quarantine. Testing capacity for corona tests is now increased from 350 to 1,000 tests per day in Bathinda district.
