Landowners and farmers in the area have been encouraged to come forward with tractors, trolleys and essential supplies to assist in the ongoing relief efforts.

Dera Bassi MLA Kuljeet Singh Randhawa visited the Tiwana embankment today, accompanied by senior officials, to assess the situation and reassure residents of the local administration's preparedness to handle any emergencies.

A special Girdawari (crop loss assessment) will be conducted in the villages of Sarseeni, Sadhanpur and Khajur Mandi, where heavy water flow has severely damaged standing crops over the past few days. Randhawa stated that the matter would be escalated to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for potential relief from the Special Relief Fund.

The villages of Tiwana, Khajoor Mandi, Sadhanpur, Sarsini, Alamgir, Dangdhera, Mubarikpur, Mirpur, and Bakarpur are currently on high alert. Many of these areas experienced significant flooding in 2023, which resulted in extensive soil erosion and damage to agricultural land along the riverbanks.

Meanwhile, MLA Randhawa also visited Lalru to meet with the family of farmer Janak Raj, who tragically lost his life due to the swift currents of the Jharmal river. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of financial assistance from the government.
