A robber was injured by the bullet fired from his own double-barreled gun in a scuffle with a commuter.

The robbers, who were two in number, attempted to steal Manpreet Singh’s motorcycle on Saturday night. The victim, a resident of Punia village, was on way back to his village from the nearby Manavan village.

He was stopped by the motorbike-borne two armed robbers who came from

Valtoha side.

The robbers took the keys of Manpreet Singh’s motorcycle and the one sitting on the rear seat tried to shoot at Manpreet Singh with his gun. Both indulged in a scuffle. Meanwhile, the robber’s gun went off suddenly with the bullet hitting him in the foot.

Patti Sadar ASI Harwinderpal Singh visited the spot and recovered the double-barreled gun and an empty and live cartridge each.

A case has been registered against the robbers who have not been identified.
