Ropar, March 26
All markets remained closed in Ropar, Chamkaur Sahib and Morinda while trains were disrupted as farmers sat on a dharna at various places today.
There was, however, no impact of the bandh in Nangal where all markets remained open throughout the day. The farmer unions had already exempted Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib from the bandh call due to the ongoing Hola Mohalla festival.
The farmers blocked the roads near Rangeepur village on the Ropar-Chandigarh highway, near Morinda on the Kharar-Ludhiana road and Ropar-Ludhiana road, forcing people to take the link road to reach their destinations.
Railways authorities said the New Delhi Janshatabdi, which originates from Una at 6.21 am, was terminated at Chandigarh.
