A mega pharma park project, to be developed over 130 acres at Wazirabad village by the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), has stirred a controversy.

AAP activists today held a protest against the transfer of panchayat land to the PSIEC. They alleged that the land was transferred against the consent of the locals and without following proper procedure.

Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that the administration did not allow the villagers to hold a gram sabha to decide the matter.

Cheema alleged that the Congress government, under pressure from the local MLA, had snatched the livelihood of farmers and labourers by transferring the village land illegally. He claimed that a majority of the panchayat members were against the move.
