Three masked motorcycle-borne miscreants today allegedly snatched Rs14 lakh from a finance company official in Zira subdivision.

Sources said the incident took place around 11.40 am when the victim, Nishan Singh, assistant branch manager, RBL Finance Company, was going to deposit cash in bank. The bank where the money was to be deposited is situated just a few meters away from the company’s office.

Nishan Singh said, “We deposit cash in the bank on a daily basis. Today when I was walking towards the bank, three motorcycle-borne persons forcibly snatched the bag containing Rs13.87 lakh from me and fled.”

As soon as the matter was reported, senior police officials, including Rajwinder Singh Randhawa, DSP, reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Ajay Raj Singh, SP (D), said the police were checking the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the spot. “We are investigating the matter and nab the accused soon,” he said. An FIR under Section 379-B of the Indian Penal Code was registered against unidentified persons at Zira City police station.
