During the police custody from October 16 to 23, he reportedly told police officials that Vijay Sharma of Delhi had assured him support of over 60 AAP MLAs to ensure his victory. Later, when Vijay Sharma did not provide him with the letter of support from the MLAs, he took signatures of 10 AAP MLAs from the Election Commission website. He also gave consent for sending a copy of his nomination for a forensic examination.
