The Local Bodies Department has approved tenders of Rs115 crore for water supply and sewerage infrastructure in Batala and Pathankot.

Brahm Mohindra, Local Bodies Minister, said works worth Rs70.86 crore in Batala and Rs43.61 crore in Pathankot would be commenced immediately for laying approximately 175-km sewer network and 23-km water supply pipeline in Batala and 147-km sewer network and 91-km water supply pipeline in Pathankot. He said the residents of these areas would get safe piped water supply and safe disposal of waste water.

The minister said to provide basic amenities in the main towns of the state, the state government has implemented Centrally sponsored Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation scheme. — TNS
