Sangrur MP and Shiromani Akali Dal (A) president Simranjit Singh Mann and his staff were put under house arrest by the Fatehgarh Sahib police this morning. Hundreds of police personnel cordoned off his official residence Kila Harnam Singh at Talania village.

The action came after he announced a protest dharna at Dhuri town, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in favour of arrested social media influencer Bhana Sidhu and for his release.

Mann said he had informed the LS Speaker that he would not be attending the interim session because he was busy here.
