After the Centre announced Bharat Ratna for former Deputy PM LK Advani, SAD (Delhi) today demanded similar honour for Akali leader Master Tara Singh, who is credited with having steered the Sikh community to join India during the Partition.

Paramjit Singh Sarna, chief, SAD (Delhi), said, “We appreciate the decision to confer Bharat Ratna on former Deputy PM LK Advani and former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur. But why successive governments have overlooked Master Tara Singh contribution?”

It was Master Tara Singh, who influenced Punjabis to choose India over Pakistan during the Partition.
