Former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, along with other party leaders, observed the second day of their religious punishment by performing sewa at Takht Kesgarh in Ropar on Friday.

Heavy police were deployed around Sukhbir and other leaders to prevent any untoward incident, after the recent assassination attack on Sukhbir. Meanwhile at Fatehgarh Sahib, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra along with SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli performed ‘sewa’today.

Sukhbir Badal is expected to undertake religious punishment on December 7th and 8th at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

Chandumajra said his penance would be end on December 8 and till then, he won’t say anything about the allegations levelled against him. He condemned the attack on Sukhbir and said judicial enquiry should be initiated to unravel the truth.

Panjoli said he had been writing to Sukhbir and Akal Takht Jathedar for several years on this issue but to no avail.
