The police resorted to a mild lathicharge on SAD workers, during which Bhunder reportedly fell to the ground.

Earlier, the cavalcade of protesters left for Chandigarh after Harsimrat offered prayers at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Around 8.30 pm when the protesters tried to enter the UT from Zirakpur, the police blocked their way.

Meanwhile, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his supporters was stopped at the Mullanpur barrier by the police. They resorted to lathicharge and detained him along with Bikram Singh Majithia, Jagir Kaur, Prem Singh Chandumajra and Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema. — TNS
