Cheema, while speaking to reporters after the meeting that lasted for more than an hour, said that the sudden resignation given by Dhami was “unfortunate”. He said that he and the entire Akali Dal leadership held a meeting with Dhami to discuss the matter. The meeting was held in a very comfortable environment, he said, adding that there were many objections in the heart of Harjinder Singh Dhami, which they all listened to very carefully.

He said in the coming days, all these objections would be mentioned in the meeting of Akali Dal and Harjinder Singh Dhami would again be requested to withdraw his resignation. He said that Dhami was an eminent personality and his services were needed by the party and Panth in the days to come, so he appealed to him to reconsider his decision of resignation.
