The Moga police have registered an FIR under Sections 283 (causing danger, obstruction or injury to any person in any public way or public line of navigation) and 188 (disobedience to the order promulgated by public servant) of the IPC against SAD district president Tirath Singh Mahla, 22 other local Akali leaders and 150 unknown party workers for staging a protest at Baghapurana town on the allegations of violating the prohibitory orders issued in the wake of Covid and disrupting traffic on the highway.

Led by Mahla, SAD workers staged a protest on Saturday evening demanding legal action against local Congress MLA Darshan Singh Brar, his sons Kamaljit Brar and Gurjant Brar for alleged illegal mining. Investigating officer Jagsir Singh said the Akalis disrupted traffic causing disturbance to the commuters due to which the case has been registered against them. Moreover, they also violated the prohibitory orders issued in wake of Covid by the District Magistrate. — TNS
