Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) president Sukhdev Dhindsa tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Ferozepur.

SAD (Sanyukt) is an ally of the BJP.

Akali leader Dhindsa’s son Parminder Singh Dhindsa made the announcement in Punjabi on Facebook.

Dhindsa was supposed to share the stage with Modi. Covid-19 tests were made mandatory for everyone joining the rally.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
