A deportee from USA, Jagsir Singh (32), reached his native village, Bardwal Barra Bass (Dhuri), from Amritsar on Sunday. He said he had lost all hopes of a bright future as he was deported by the Trump government within 10 days of his entry into the US.

Sharing his account, Jagsir said he had left his village on December 8, 2024, to settle in the US, for which he had paid a sum of Rs 42 lakh to an agent from Dhuri. He had assured him that he would ensure his safe entry through genuine way into the US. However, he entered America through the Tijuana border (Mexico) on February 4, 2025, where he had been nabbed by the American forces, he said.

Jagsir said the agent had taken him to the Mexico border through countries such as England, Spain and Guatemala. He said his family had paid sold their agriculture land, spanning across six bighas, for Rs 42 lakh. He also demanded strict action against the agent for ruining his career.
