Reacting to the news-item “Lehragaga village hub of drugs”, carried by The Tribune in today’s newspaper, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Lehra sub-division, Deepinderpal Singh Jeji, today refuted the allegation levelled by villagers that Bhutal Kalan village had turned into a hub of drugs.

The DSP said the police were active and committed to making Bhutal Kalan village drug-free as it had registered seven FIRs under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against eight residents of Bhutal Kalan village since March 13.He said all persons had been sent to jail after their arrest.

The DSP further said that the police had seized 25 gm of heroin, 960 intoxicant pills and 20 intoxicant syrups’ small bottles from their possession. He said the police had also been getting 20 drug addicts treated at a drug de-addiction centre. Besides, the police had been closely watching the activities of drug peddlers in the area. He also said that the police would not spare any drug peddler in the area.
