Sarpanch murdered in Barnala
Sukhjit Singh (26), Sarpanch of Chhanna Gulab Singh Wala village, near Bhadaur, in Barnala district, died after being allegedly attacked by nearly 20 persons last evening. Sukhjit’s father Amarjit Singh also sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident reportedly took place after an altercation on some issue between the deceased and the opposite party. Besides using sharp-edged weapon, the attackers also reportedly fired some rounds in the air. Barnala SSP Sandeep Malik said following an altercation on some issue, members of the opposite group attacked the sarpanch at his house. He was seriously injured and died while being taken to the Civil Hospital, Barnala.
