Ferozepur, August 3

Senior SAD leader and former minister Hari Singh Zira died on Monday after a prolonged illness.

His son Avtar Singh Zira, alias Minna, is also a senior Akali leader.

Family sources said that he was admitted to PGI Chandigarh where he died of cardiac arrest. The cremation will take place in Zira tomorrow.

Hari Singh remained MLA from Zira five times since 1977 and also served as Irrigation Minister.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
