Sessions on Sufism were held on the second day of the 34th World Punjabi Conference in Lahore.

The speakers emphasised that the tolerance and openness to ideas in the Punjab region was the gift of the Sufis. Speakers, including author Khaled Hussain and Jang Bahadur Goyal, said apart from compositions by the Sikh Gurus, Guru Granth Sahib also contained the hymns of Baba Sheikh Farid, Bhagats and Bhats, exhibiting the openness of the region.
