The Municipal Corporation has launched the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (Namaste) scheme for sewer men.

MC Commissioner Amandeep Kaur said the scheme aimed at encouraging mechanical cleaning and providing safety to sewer men engaged in the risky job of cleaning sewers and septic tanks. Under the scheme, sewer men will be provided personal protective equipment (PPE) kits. They will also be provided health insurance cover.
