SGPC begins shifting ‘saroops’ of Guru Granth Sahib to safer areas

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has initiated steps to relocate the “saroops” of Guru Granth Sahib to safer places from the gurdwaras located close to the Pakistan border.
Special teams have been constituted for this purpose in the border areas of Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Taran Taran districts.

The move was contemplated after the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at Poonch in J&K was hit during shelling by Pakistan recently. The “saroop” was shifted to Pathankot’s Gurdwara Baath Sahib.
An SGPC team was in the Jammu area to relocate the “saroops” from other gurdwaras there too.
Golden Temple manager Rajinder Singh Ruby said over 100 “saroops” from the border belt of Punjab had been safely brought to Gurdwara Satlani Sahib, Attari. “These would be shifted to the SGPC’s headquarters soon before being shifted to various gurdwaras,” he added.

Similarly, the “saroops” from gurdwaras near the border area of Dera Baba Nanak and Galarhi in Gurdaspur were shifted to Gurdwara Tahli Sahib.
