The development was confirmed by SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan. He, however, did not elaborate its reason only stating that due to technical reasons SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami withdrew the call for holding an urgent executive meeting.

Yesterday, the SGPC issued a statement quoting the SGPC chief for taking a decision to hold the executive meeting on December 23. It was widely assumed that the executive may review its previous decision of instituting a committee to probe the charges against Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar Damdama Sahib. A large section of the Sikh sangat and Sikh religious leaders were against the SGPC’s move against the Jahedar and restraining him to discharge his religious duties.
