The SGPC has distanced itself from the delegation of MLAs, led by Lok Insaaf Party MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, in resolving the matter of preserving the Mangu Mutt in Puri.

The mutt is associated withGuru Nanak. Rajinder Singh Mehta, senior vice-president of the SGPC, said on December 16, the District Collector had assured the SGPC regarding preservation of the mutt. He said the SGPC had already issued a statement that the beautification drive was not damaging the Mangu Mutt, in any way. — TNS
