Sources said the clash was linked to an old dispute between the two groups. During the confrontation, a youth from a group fired shots at a member of the rival group, creating chaos and panic among students. However, no one was injured in the incident. Cops arrived promptly at the scene and arrested the youth who had opened fire, seizing the weapon from him.

Reports suggested that the accused used a .32-bore pistol to fire shots into the air during an altercation.

The sound of gunfire caused panic as students ran for safety. Teams of the Bathinda police, led by SP City Narinder Singh, reached the spot and assessed the situation. The SP confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Several youths were taken into custody, and the police were verifying whether the accused were students of the college or outsiders. They were also investigating whether the pistol was licensed. Following the incident, the college authorities halted the event to ensure the students’ safety. Cops seized the CCTV footage and initiated a probe into the incident.
