SI arrested in double suicide case

The rural police claimed to have held SI Sandeep Kaur, absconding in a double suicide case, from Shri Hargobindpur of Gurdaspur district today. Gaurav Toora, in-charge of the three-member SIT, confirmed the development.

Vikramjit Singh, a jeweller and resident of Navapind village located on the Mehta road, had committed suicide around 10 days ago after allegedly being blackmailed by the SI, who was posted at the Mehta police station. A day after the incident, his wife Sukhbir Kaur, a teacher, also ended her life by hanging herself.

The names of some other cops also came to light during probe on the basis of the suicide note recovered from the hotel room where Vikramjit committed suicide. — TNS
