No internet for common people, but free access to gangsters, says Sidhu Moosewala’s father; raises slogans against AAP govt

Sidhu Moosewala’s first death anniversary was observed today at the New Grain Market in Mansa. At the anniversary event, Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh questioned the state government over alleged tardy probe into his murder.

He also questioned the timing of action initiated against Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and the suspension of internet services in the state when his son’s death anniversary was being observed.  

He said that that while the state government had suspended the internet services for peace-loving citizens, gangsters in jail continued to enjoy it.

Balkaur Singh also expressed distress over the recent interview of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was maligning his son’s image. “When I saw him on television, I felt my son had died again,” said Singh who along with his wife recently held a dharna outside the Punjab assembly to demand justice for their slain son.

Singh also asked why the courts have not taken suo motu cognisance of Bishnoi’s interview when he openly threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Balkaur Singh also raised slogans against the state government while addressing a large congregation that had gathered on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the police had made strict security arrangements for the event. The late singer’s statue, his favourite 5911 tractor, and his last ride Thar were placed at the venue.

Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29, 2022, when he was on his way to Jawahar Ke village. His vehicle was waylaid and bullets were sprayed on him by assailants. The investigation in the case is still going on and some arrests were made. Recently, two of the accused were killed in a clash at Goindwal Sahib jail.
