Sikh leader Baldev Singh Sirsa has filed a petition in the Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission accusing the SGPC of disrespecting Sikh principles.

“The petition was filed under Section 142 of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 and the next date of hearing has been fixed for December 9 by the commission,” he said.

In his petition, the Sikh leader alleged that “masia”, “punya” and “sangrand” were not given any importance or recognition in Sikhism. However, the SGPC has put up a board on the Golden Temple premises displaying the dates of these occasions. Demanding immediate removal of the board, he sought action against SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and former president Gobind Singh Longowal. — TNS
